EOWTE July 9, 2019 Oberammergau, Germany
We left Arnstein and headed toward Oberammergau on the morning of the 9th. We stopped at this little cafe on our way out of town called Bakery Peter Schiff. First all they gave us a glass of water! This was the very first time dining in Germany that we got water that we did not have to pay for it. YOWZA! That's one of the things I miss the most....water. Sounds silly but it's not I say. We also got a bowl of fruit. I love fruit. Tony got a sandwich on a pretzel bun that he said was the best pretzel bun he has ever had. I had cheese bread. It's my go to luxury on vacation. How much healthier can you get? Cheese and fruit.
When we arrived in Oberammergau we took a stroll around town. I took a few pictures. This town is like Leavenworth on steroids. On a serious note, it is home to the Passion Play. The Passion Play is every ten years here and the next one is set for 2020. The history is quite interesting. If you'd like to read about it, you can find it here.
We had dinner at our hotel. The hotel we are staying is the Gasthof zur Rose. My dinner consisted of a white fish with a hollandaise sauce with a side of potatoes. Tony had three types of sausages and a side of broasted potatoes. His potatoes were really, really good. He didn't finish them all.... but I did!
Tomorrow we go to Neuschwanstein, Hohenschwangau, and Linderhof.
