Mom means so many different
 things to different people

I've been so very fortunate in my life to have had two moms. The first one I honestly didn't think very much of but amazingly she probably was the one that taught me the most lessons. They were painful life lessons. She was a beautiful woman that had a very strong work ethic. She was a totally different person at home. I could go on and on with story after story of the disappointments of childhood growing up with a mom who basically didn't know how to love me and I'm not sure if she wanted to.

Then there's my second mom. She's probably the kindest person I have ever met. She goes above and beyond the call of duty to be the grandmother to my grandchildren, the wife to my father, and the mom who knows how to love.... for me. She's in Ohio and so are my grand kids so she basically took care of them and watched them grow up while I was mostly out of reach. I'm so grateful for her presence in their lives and in mine.

Today can be a day to remember your mom or someone who has been like a mom to you. I've always said it doesn't have to come with a gift. It can be just a long hug, or a lovely meal, or just sitting around chatting and spending time with "mom".
